Hike The Gorge of Vultures

November 8, 2020 | 9:00 am 1:30 pm

A guided walk through Sirikari gorge, with its vertical cliffs and impressive griffon vultures.

Walk a path well trodden through the years, originally the only connection betwen Sirikari & Kissamos, but little used nowadays.
Aromatic herbs like thyme and sage grow all year round, filling the air with their scents. Goats roam free in the gorge and if we are lucky we might catch sight of the majestic griffon vultures who live & nest in the high cliffs.

We will walk for 2-3 hours, on a rocky path, with some shaded sections. We will have some breaks along the walk to properly take in the colours, the scents, the bird songs. To pass through the whole gorge needs about 2.5 hours, and the same to return, but we can also do a shorter route, walking part of the way into the gorge and turning back.

Meet in Kissamos.

You can also take the bus from Chania towards Kissamos and we will pick you up from the bus stop.

The excursion is 25€/person, including transport from Kissamos. Discount for returning customers.

Advance booking essential as numbers limited.
