Ride an E-bike to the top of Kissamos Manna mountain.
Good for those who want a mountain adventure, mostly off-road on wide tracks, hard loose stone terrain, with stunning views in every direction.
An E-bike steep climb on a wide rocky track to the local mountain, with stunning views of Balos peninsula, the West and the North coast.
We start from Kissamos and ride in a quiet valley on a narrow paved road as a build up.
We see the mountain above us, and after passing a village we take a turn for the steep track going up.
The track is always wide, quite steep in parts. The terrain is a good challenge, big loose stones. Every time we stop, we have views North to Kissamos bay.
After ascending to the ridge, we see the wind turbines on one side. We turn to the other side, towards the summit.
We park our bikes. The last bit to the summit is on a narrow rocky trail. The small church of Profitis Ilias at the very top offers commanding views to Gramvousa peninsula and the West coast.
After a deserved break, we descend the path to find our bikes and start the ride downhill.
We take a different route to go back. After some up and downs, we find a plateau hidden between the mountains. We take a turn on a remote track and start going down again. The road goes through a little known gorge. Goats, vultures and ravens. The steep descent takes us to a small paved road and back to civilization gradually.
We get back to Kissamos still wondering how this secret world is just around the corner.
