Walk Old Churches and Valleys

In this walk we explore the inland hills above  Kissamos.

We meet in Kissamos and drive 20 minutes to the start of the walk. We park in a tiny village by the ruins of an original Byzantine church.

We start walking uphill on wide track in the countryside, among olive groves, overlooking deep valleys. We have a spectacular view on some of the local gorges.
Through the Mediterranean vegetation we reach the crest and walk over to the other side for some downhill walking.
We visit a tiny chapel with old frescoes and walk through a traditional old village.
We stop for a break and a snack at a panoramic point with breathtaking views on Kissamos bay and the sea below.
We do some up and down hill walking to close the circle and get back to our starting point in the shade of the plane trees, then we drive back to Kissamos.
