Let’s walk the longest gorge on Crete!
Samaria gorge only just reopened to the public, and we’re going to see this marvel of nature at a time when we can appreciate it without big crowds.
The hike starts early in the morning and is long, 5-6 hours of walking on uneven terrain. A steep descent from Omalos into the gorge, then walk by the gorge bed winding its way to the South coast until we come out in Agia Roumeli.
In Agia Roumeli, time permitting, we will have late lunch at one of the excellent tavernas, before taking the ferry to Sougia. From Sougia we will take the bus back to the gorge entrance near Omalos. We should get back to Omalos for about 7:30pm.
Monday 6th July, 7am. Meet in Omalos.
We are organising the logistics for a group of fellow hikers. No charge from our part. You will need approximately 25€ for gorge entrance, ferry and bus ticket. Plus money for taverna lunch if you wish so.
Please book in advance. We need to reserve bus tickets! Contact Manu: manu@fitincrete.com – 00306944413919
