This is an adventure in the wild West coast of Crete, where we combine a hike in a gorge with a sea swim to a remote beach.
Transportation
We start from Kissamos and drive together for 30 minutes. If you have your own transport, you can drive your vehicle and you can hang out on the beach after the end.
The Swim
We set off from a pebbly beach and we swim along the rocky cliffs, home to rich sea life.
We then round Cape Crow and swim towards the remote cove with crystal clear water. We land on its pebbly beach and take in the rugged surroundings.
Towels, walking gear, shoes will be carried by our guide.
The Hike
We walk on a path that goes along the valley, partly on a wide track and partly criss-crossing the gorge small river. We pass from vertical rocky cliffs to views on the secluded cove and the open sea. We admire the Mediterranean vegetation, from the low phrygana with thyme bushes to the maquis with carob trees and riverine plants in the shade of plane trees. It’s a good climb, but at the end we can enjoy a drink and some food at a traditional Cretan taverna.
