The wild swim in Falasarna will take us to a bay with extremely clear water and a sunken Allied ship on the West coast of Crete.
Transportation
We can pick you up from Kissamos and drive together for 20 minutes. Or we can meet in Falasarna directly, if you have your own transport and you want to hang out on the beach after the swim.
The Swim
We find a quiet spot on the beach and set off from the pink sand shore.
We swim along the rocky coastline while marvelling at the amazing visibility in the water. We brush an off-shore slightly submerged rock, surrounded by shoals of sea breams and other fish. We reach a WWII shipwreck that lies less than 2m below the surface, then turn back and swim towards shore.
When we get back, we enjoy a snack by the shore in the shade of the tamarisk trees. We can also enjoy a drink at the cafe with a great view overlooking the bay, savouring our accomplishment with a cool drink.
The Long Swim
With strong swimmers we set out towards Limpet island, an elongated rock part of a submerged ridge enclosing the bay at a good distance. We swim alongside the island while admiring the life below the surface. Then we cross the small gap to the tip of the bay and we look for the WWII shipwreck. We turn back to complete the triangle swimming along the coastline.
